About Us

VIRIDIS (PVT) LTD

Viridis is one of the leading service providers in mixed plastic waste management in Sri Lanka, with 18 years of experience. It was incorporated in 2005 under the Companies Act 2002 and is registered with the BOI, Ministry of Industrial Development, Export Development Board, and Waste Management Authority.
Over the past 18 years, we have recycled over 9,500 metric tons of plastic waste, including 288 million PET bottles collected within Sri Lanka. These materials would otherwise have gone to landfills, been burned, or ended up in the ocean, rivers, and other water sources
We ensure that the waste collected by Viridis is either recycled by us or treated and disposed of in accordance with the rules and guidance of the Central Environmental Authority (CEA). If any waste is not processed by Viridis, it will only be sent to certified recyclers or upcyclers.
The founder of this business is Mr. Stewart, a UK citizen and businessman with various enterprises in several countries. In 2005, he noticed that no one was recycling PET bottles in Sri Lanka, resulting in these bottles collecting in the sea and other dumping sites without being treated. That's when he started Viridis to recycle and export them.
Our factory and head office are located in Panagoda at the Templeburg Industrial Zone, which is 30 km away from Colombo and 5 km away from the Athurugiriya Highway exit.

    Waste to Resource..

Waste can become a resource through various processes and approaches that promote recycling, reuse, and resource recovery.
Recycling is a crucial method for converting waste materials into reusable resources. Through recycling processes, materials such as paper, glass, plastic, and metal can be collected, sorted, and processed into new products. Recycling reduces the need for extracting raw materials, conserves energy, and minimizes environmental impacts associated with resource extraction
Overall, transforming waste into a resource requires a shift in mindset and the adoption of sustainable practices. It involves investing in waste management infrastructure, raising awareness, promoting recycling initiatives, and fostering collaboration among stakeholders, including governments, industries, and individuals. By viewing waste as a valuable resource, we can contribute to a more sustainable and resource-efficient future.
